People haven’t changed much from the time of Moses (roughly 1592–1200 BC)

April 2026- I found it amusing and at the same time wonderful how while I was reading the part in the Old Testament where the Jews complain to Moses about their conditions in the wild and how God rebuked them, that my own students began to complain as well. I rebuked their complaints in a loving way, of course. This culminated in a consequence of a quiz on their individual performance levels. The days leading up to the quiz were full of anxiety for some, but once we went through it, my students saw how positive and low stress I approach these situations and by the end, they were happy and enjoying themselves. They saw that I was not being vindictive, but rather correcting just like God was with Moses and his people.

This happened earlier in the year when I was reading about Jacob and how he was wrongly accused of disrespecting the pharaoh‘s wife. One of my colleagues was wrongly accused of some infraction at work and I was able to talk to a different colleague about how Jacob was put through the same situation. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring it all in and say that God can use this situation for good. Sometimes it’s difficult to tie it back to God when I’m surrounded by non-believers or deniers or stubborn fools. I’m very fond of my colleagues, though, I wish they would come to the faith; they would see a decrease in their anxiety and an increase in their happiness.
